ABOUT US ABOUT US

About HOKE®

Hoke valves and fittings are recognized as the best in class for reliability and global distribution. In the early 1960’s, HOKE introduced the GYROLOK® tube fitting with a design that offers innovative advantages and benefits that are unmatched in the industry.

We are the logical choice for fluid control solutions. We provide the lowest cost of ownership, offering the best in class reliability and availability of our products. We have global coverage, delivering value in the form of local, flexible, service to meet our customer’s needs.

Hoke® began manufacturing small gas flow control valves for jeweler’s torches in 1925, laying the foundation for a leading global fluid control products company. Please review the below timeline for more information.

1925

1925

HOKE Incorporated is formed in Queens, NY and registers the Trademark HOKE OK. Samuel W. HOKE develops Jeweler’s Torches containing very small needle valves, which begins a nearly century long journey.

1930s

1930s

  • HOKE and Whitey form a joint venture to develop valve technology.
  • By the mid-1930s HOKE Inc has shifted to industrial valves, focusing on needle type designs commonly supplied with NPT, weld, and sometimes flared fitting ends, mainly supplying to the northeastern area of the US.

1940s

1940s

  • Begins supplying valve products to the U.S. Navy during WWII.
  • In the early 1940’s the first prototype for today’s valve designs went into production. These valves are designed and produced using the highest quality materials, which is still the highest priority in our manufacturing process today.
  • 1947 HOKE and Whitey dissolve their joint venture.
  • 1947 HOKE valves become available using “flareless” tube fitting connections supplied by the Crawford Fitting Co. This allowed HOKE to supply customers with easier to use, more economical end connections.

1950s

1950s

  • HOKE relocates and expands its operations to Englewood, NJ.
  • Valve series 200s, 300s, and 400s are released to the market, expanding the offering of needle and metering valves.

1960s

1960s

  • Improving upon existing designs HOKE presents the world with the innovative GYROLOK tube fitting design. This patented design highlights the butt seal and controlled ferrule drive which continues to be the market leader in remake-ability, safety and reliability.
  • In the late 60s HOKE is purchased by the Jones family and relocated to Cresskill, NJ.
  • HOKE begins its nuclear valve program by acquiring Cornwall Manufacturing of PA.
  • First delivery of HOKE 10000 series marine valves to the U.S. Navy for use in nuclear submarine programs and some surface nuclear ships.
  • Ball valves were added to the product line.

1970s

1970s

  • HOKE is a substantial supplier to the Navy Nuclear (Sub) program and also the Canadian nuclear market.
  • Expands product mix to include nuclear valves and actuation systems, the packless valve are developed as well as the sealed bellows type valves.
  • 1974 was the first year HOKE manufactured a valve that exceeded 1″ nominal pipe size.
  • Spun cylinders and plug valves were added to the product line.

1980s

1980s

  • 1987 the Jones family expands operations to Spartanburg, SC.
  • Walter Jones III acquires ACME Manufacturing of CT, supplier of nuts and ferrules to HOKE.
  • Initiation of retail distribution networks in Germany and the United Kingdom.

1990s

1990s

  • Introduction of the 7-Series ball valve to the market.
  • 1993 HOKE signs its first major national agreement with DuPont.
  • 1997 HOKE enters into a global agreement with Dow.
  • Late 1998 Watts Industries, Inc. purchases HOKE from the Jones family.
  • 1999 Watts spins off its industrial flow products to create CIRCOR International [NYSE symbol CIR]. CIRCOR incorporates HOKE, GO Regulator, Circle Seal Controls, and Atkomatic under the same corporate umbrella.
  • All HOKE operations consolidated to Spartanburg, SC.

2000s

2000s

  • BASF global agreement begins and HOKE enters into emerging markets in China and India.
  • GO Regulator, a leading global designer and manufacturer of standardized and specialty pressure regulators, diaphragm valves, and filters to the analytical, instrumentation, petrochemical, oil & gas, and specialty gas industries, relocates to Spartanburg, SC in 2000.
  • CIRCORTech becomes a brand name to produce intelligent flow instrumentation devices and systems.
  • In 2001 CIRCOR International acquires Tomco Quick Couplers of OH which provides the fluid power, instrumentation, automation, and chemical process industries with high quality couplings.
  • In 2003 CIRCOR Instrumentation Technologies product group is formed to provide improved focus on low flow control. This group includes HOKE, Circle Seal Industrial Products, GO Regulator, and Tomco Quick Couplers.
  • In 2005 CIRCOR begins building a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence through a large-scale program to implement Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma.
  • In 2008 the “Model Line” concept, a complete redesign of the product stream, from suppliers to customers, for breakthrough performance and efficiency is implemented in the HOKE valve product line.
  • 2009 HOKE becomes a supplier to Shell North America.
  • Late in 2009 CIT begins the implementation of the GO Regulator and GYROLOK Model Lines.
